All materials are good towards LEED and Built Green points.
• If it's specifically eco-friendly flooring you are looking for, head over to Premier Flooring Design. They stock a great selection of natural fiber carpets, bamboo, cork, recylced glass tile, and lots of other options, plus hardwoods from Australia, a country which follows stringent timber harvesting policies.
• Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) are cost effective, high quality, energy efficient, easy-to-assemble building components. Insulated Component Structures, Inc is a local manufacturer of this modern alternative to conventional building methods.
• If you're looking for low-VOC paints, our local JAX stocks the Benjamin Moore ECO-SPEC line. 

Energy Audits

An energy audit is the best way to evaluate the current energy efficiency of your home and allows you to prioritze improvements you can make that will boost your efficiency, lowering your utility bills. It is also usually required when you apply for an Energy-Efficient Mortgage.

• Living Space does energy audits, as well as healthy home audits and green building consulting. President Pete Chandler is a certified Building Biologist and a Home Performance with Energy Star auditor.

Home Inspections

Getting your home inspected as soon as possible after writing a purchase contract is a critical step in the purchase process. It could save you thousands of dollars on defects you identify and may be able to have the seller or builder correct before purchase.

• One option to consider is Peak to Prairie Inspection Service. Kent, the Certified Master Inspector, is able to do general home inspections, as well as a wide range of specialized inspections, including homes made with alternative buiding methods, like straw bale, as well as off-the-grid homes.
• Another local service able to conduct home inspections is Alpha Inspections.

Green Lawn Services

• Clean Air Lawn Care offer environmentally clean, high quality mowing services. Their machines use electricity (power through renewable energy (wind/solar)) and biodiesel fuel. This reduces their net emissions to zero. And because their equipment is electric, it's noticeably quieter, which is great for neighbors, napping children and enjoying a peaceful day.

Moving Services

• Bravo! Exodus Moving and Storage has "gone green." All of their local fleet use biodiesel (currently being converted over to vegetable oil) and the company uses packing boxes made from recycled cardboard. They'll get you across town, across county or across the planet.
